Tools Used To See The Vision

posted on 8th of September 2009

When we thought of making Billing Cart one of the earliest discussion was the technology that would be behind and what applications would be necessary to make the idea a reality. When it came down to it we chose PHP as the core technology but we still had to decide how we write our codebase, we were going to start from what we had prior to Billing Cart but decided to use a PHP Framework in its place. The first choice was Codeigniter because of the well documented user guide, after testing and doing some more research we decided to make it on the then fork of Codeigniter, Kohana. Once we started using Kohana it became the forefront of the development with all the features that were available to use out of box along with it being up-to-date technology as it sported PHP 5 from the begining. What is Billing Cart?

posted on 3rd of September 2009

Billing Cart is an open source online invoicing application which allows you to create and send invoices easily to your client without too much of a hastle. Billing Cart is the follow on of an in-house invoicing system I have been using to invoice clients, the former system only had basic features like email and print invoices. With the latter you can email, print, download as PDF, email as PDF, email as a standard email and also tag invoices.

There are also more features available which I will be posting about until the public release of the application itself. You ca follow the development on the website and also on the twitter page.
